Hand thrown rimmed plate 26cm . Made in Japan.
This plate is hard like porcelain but has a coarse texture like terracotta.The surface texture looks like unglazed Yakishime, but is actually thinly glazed, and shimmers with copper gold hue. Watch video how they reflect the light.
Food safe.
Suitable as dinner plate, serving platter or tea tray.
Please note that due to it's handmade nature, no two pieces are exactly alike in colour, shape and texture.

About the Artist
Ohara Koichi is a highly acclaimed studio potter based in Tokoname, Japan. Ohara draws his inspiration from the raw textures in the nature. He mixes various local soils and materials to make his clay, glaze and slip, which often contain grit. He studied physics at Meisei University before becoming a ceramic artist.
