Vase (E) - Kodomari Ryo

Unique sculptural flower vase.

Drawing on the rice-bale shaped bottles of the Korean Joseon (Li) dynasty, the artist reinterprets classical ceramic archetypes through a distinctive geometric and playful language. Each work is individually made and entirely unique.

Process:

The main body was partly wheel-thrown, hand-built, and sculpted by hand.

White slip was applied on the iron rich reddish clay body before the initial firing.

The glazing with minimum colour palette (brown, black and yellow) was added before the second firing.

This is a functional watertight flower vase.
