About the Maker
Based in Brighton, Nicola Gillis creates hand-built ceramics shaped by a quiet appreciation for texture, ritual and the natural world. Influenced by Japanese and wider Asian ceramic traditions, her pieces are intended for daily use — objects to be held, shared and lived with over time.
Working instinctively, Nicola draws inspiration from the simplicity of a brush stroke and from patterns encountered in unexpected places: embroidery, tribal markings, weathered buildings and symbols pressed into drain covers. Each form carries subtle surface detail, finished with expressive brush glazing or wax-resist markings layered with oxide, giving every piece a distinct and tactile character.

We recommend to wash this item by hand. Not suitable for dishwasher. No microwave or oven please.
