Vase (B) - Kodomari Ryo
Unique sculptural flower vase.
Drawing on the Korean 'Rice-Bale shaped' bottles of Li dynasty, the artist explored classical ceramic archetype though his signature playful and geometric style. Each piece is one of a kind.
Process:
The main body was partly wheel-thrown, hand-built, and sculpted by hand.
White slip was applied on the iron rich reddish clay body before the initial firing.
The glazing with minimum colour palette (brown, black and yellow) was added before the second firing.
This is a functional watertight flower vase.
