Cockscomb Jar - Sakurai Minako

Cockscomb Jar - Sakurai Minako

Hand thrown/built ceramic vessel.

This piece follows the style of Cockscomb Jar, known among the ceramic style of Liao dynasty ( A.D.10-12) in the north China.

Cockscomb Jar's handle was originally made in the cockscomb's shape but was later changed in more simplified form in the course of history.

The surface texture is very nuanced and can be felt very dry and partly coarse. The material and firing method is somewhere between stoneware and porcelain.

Please note that due to it's handmade nature, no two pieces are exactly alike in colour, shape and texture.
