Hangiri Sushi Rice Bowl
This large wooden hangiri is a versatile bowl for preparing and serving food.
Traditionally used in Japan to mix seasoned vinegar with freshly cooked rice for sushi, it is also perfect for serving salads, fruit, noodles, and shared dishes.
Each bowl is handcrafted in Japan using traditional cooperage techniques from premium Sawara Japanese cypress. The surface is finished with a kanna (Japanese hand plane), highlighting the natural beauty of the wood.
Sawara cypress is valued for its fresh, lemony fragrance and natural resistance to water and decay. It also has natural antibacterial properties, making it a practical and hygienic choice for kitchenware.
Please note: This bowl is designed for preparing and serving food. It is not intended to hold water and may leak if filled with liquids.

Care
Store this item in a dry place away from direct sunlight.
Clean with a natural fibre/bristle scourer or non-abrasive sponge.
Please do not leave the bowl filled with water for extended periods, as excessive moisture may cause the wood to swell more than intended.
Although Sawara cypress is highly resistant to moisture and humidity, we recommend allowing the bowl to air dry completely after use. Occasionally turn it upside down to help it dry evenly.
If the bowl is left unused for a long period, the copper hoops may become loose. This is a natural characteristic of wood, which can shrink as it loses moisture.
The best way to prevent this is to use the bowl regularly, allowing it to come into contact with water from time to time. This helps the wood maintain its natural moisture.
