Wood Bath Bowl
This item is currently stocked in UK and Japan.
Handcrafted using traditional cask-making techniques, this small bucket is made from Japanese Hiba wood and finished with a copper hoop.
Perfect for bathing or washing small items, this bucket has long been used in Japanese bathrooms. Thanks to the natural anti-mould properties of Hiba wood, it is highly resistant to humidity and well suited for use in moist environments.
Hiba is one of Japan’s most valued woods. A member of the cypress family, it is known for its fresh, grassy fragrance and exceptional durability. Naturally resistant to water, decay, and bacteria, Hiba has been used for centuries in Japan, from temple construction to everyday household items.
Its natural properties make Hiba a practical and beautiful material that continues to be valued in traditional and contemporary craftsmanship.
Please note: This item is not suitable as a foot bath bowl due to its size.

Care
This item is made to be used for bathing and highly resistant to humidity. However we recommend to let this item air-dried completely after use, occasionally turning upside down.
If you leave the bowl unused for long time, the copper hoops can get loose. It is because the natural wood can shrink when very dry and lost natural moisture. If this happened, put the hoops back onto the place and leave the bowl filled with water in full overnight. The wood will regain its moisture and naturally expand.
