Wooden Flower Vase Medium - Takehito Ichikawa

Flower vase made from a variety of solid wood.

Made in Japan.

Turned by Japanese wood artist Takehito Ichikawa, these vases become sculptural objects in their own right. Evoking forms such as Aegean urns, Buddhist cosmology or Neo-classical architecture, they invite interpretation and bring a quiet sense of character to your shelf, subtly transforming the space around them.

  • About the Maker

Takehito Ichikawa is a wood artist based in Nagoya, Japan. His practice is rooted in a long engagement with woodworking, following earlier experience in furniture making and traditional Buddhist carpentry.

Working primarily through turning, he explores the relationship between hard material and fluid form, using wood to express soft curves and refined lines. His approach is shaped by a close attention to form and balance, developed over years of working directly with a variety of wood material.

Ichikawa draws inspiration from the natural world, as well as contemporary art, culture and architecture, which inform the sculptural clarity and quiet presence of his work.
